About PASTOR JIM BROWN

Welcome to the heart of Sermons By Pastor Jim Brown! I’m Amy Mazur, and I’m thrilled to share the story of my dad, Pastor Jim Brown, whose passion for loving God, strong faith, and commitment to Christian values continues to inspire us all.

Strong faith and Christian values

JIM’s Story

Jim was born in 1954 and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He met his future wife, Raelynn, at Bryan Jr. High and they started dating each other in 1970. He married Rae in 1973 and shortly after they had their two daughters, Kelly and Amy.

At a young age, Jim started working at his Dad’s factory, Standard Paste and Glue, going on to work in maintenance, owning his own HVAC company, and working as a vibration analyst for EDBCo. In 1999, Jim and Raelynn were able to fulfill a lifelong dream of building their own cabin by hand on six wooded acres on the Samish River in Sedro Woolley, Washington, where they resided for 14 years. Jim was a man of many interests, abilities and hobbies: electrical, plumbing, construction, auto mechanics, woodworking, remodeling, guns, bullet reloading, archery, and growing and processing his own herbal medicines. Jim and Rae had forty five years together from their first date, working side by side for the last 20 years of his life.

A LIGHTHEARTED LEGACY

Jim was known for his infectious smile, contagious laughter, and willingness to help anyone in need. His humor could lighten any situation, making everyone feel welcome and loved. Whether he was fixing a leaky faucet, listening to someone’s struggles, or simply sharing a laugh, Jim’s life was a true reflection of Christian values and his strong faith.

Though Jim bravely faced a difficult battle with Multiple Myeloma and Plasma Cell Leukemia, his spirit remained unbroken, and his trust in God never wavered. He often joked about his situation, reminding us to keep our faith strong and our hearts light. On May 2, 2015, Jim went to be with his Savior, but his legacy of loving God, faith, and prayer lives on. He taught us to embrace our flaws, find strength in grace, and remember that it’s okay not to have everything figured out. His strong faith was evident as he lived life by “loving God, and people, and longing for the other side.”

At Jim’s memorial, a close friend, Tony, quoted a line from Mater in Jim’s favorite movie, Cars, saying that Jim is “happier ’n a tornado in a trailer park” now, being with his Heavenly Father.

Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
